So here it is; the Thursday before I leave for Kenya. I am stressed to the max and continuously forgetting things. Honestly, I cannot wait to be on that plane Mon so I can quit worrying about everything. Once I am boarded, then there is no turning back.
This week I have been trying to finish up all the shopping for the crafts. I have been partered with a young lady, named Ashley, to lead the kids in crafts. We are planning to make mosaics, suncatchers, pennants, and crowns with the kids. Having a limited budget and making sure you have all the materials and enough of them can be pretty stressful. I am so excited to be doing this though, and am enjoying planning it out.
I still have a million things that I need to shop for personally and will be making a list today to shop for hopefully after work tonight.
Time has been the hardest part of getting ready. I have a highly demanding job as an ultrasound tech and we work until 5 which is usually when all the important offices close. I have been taking longer lunches trying to get paperwork and such mailed like my passport and taking days off to get vaccines. After work I am always involved in one or two ministries or bible studies a night. Yes...I keep myself busy for a reason.
On top of a normal work week, I have been helping the ultrasound dept at the hospital on the weekends since Feb. I have taken a lot of call but have made a lot of overtime and it paid some bills off as well as helped fund my trip. I will be glad to be done with 7 day work weeks!
This week started with my cat having to have surgery. I noticed on Sunday that her ear was drooping and when I checked it it was very swollen. After Googling it, I found that she more than likely had a hematoma from scratching or shaking her head. Now I will be honest, I haven't been home a whole lot but I never noticed her messing with her ears. So I called the vet Mon and got her in Tues. The vet said she needed to stay overnight and they would do surgery to drain her ear and that she had a bad case of ear mites. I felt like a bad momma. Thank you to my mom for taking her for me.
Tuesday was another busy day at work but it was the afternoon that became hard. I had to miss singing with the band at Celebrate Recovery. I hate missing. I love doing it every week. Instead, I did some shopping and while I was stressing out about what to do with this one craft I developed a migraine. It wasn't really bad until I got home. But before I could go home I had volunteered with my Life Group from church to go the the local retirement home and play Bingo with the residents. It was so much fun. I think we are doing it again in July. I hope I'm back for it.
After that I decided to go to find some jeans. I only have one pair now and it is wearing out now also. I am really bad about clothing shopping. I don't like doing it! I hate trying stuff on and I hate spending the money. But after I had to throw a pair in the scrap material and the other pair being too big, I decided I needed to get another pair. So I currently have 2 pairs of jeans. Woo hoo!
By the time I got home my head was pounding. I went to bed pretty early that night.
When I woke up Wed I thought the migraine would be gone but no, it remained. It was full on and by the end of the day I was crying and holding my temples. But I couldn't stop. I had to go home and pay the neighbor boy for mowing and trimming my trees, let the dogs out and hold my baby girl who now looks like a robot kitty.
Sunday morning is our Patriotic Service and I have missed 2 weeks of choir practice so I couldn't miss it last night. I suffered through it and actually started to feel better until I was on my way home. My phone started blowing up with tornado warnings. Freaking out I raced to get home. Then when I got home I stayed outside watching it the whole time. Ha! I can't just sit in my basement waiting for something to happen. I have to be seeing what is going on.
After the huge swirly funnel cloud passed over my house I jumped in the car and ran to my sister's house where my mom is taking care of the kids while they are in China adopting my new niece Maeryn. My washer and dryer are not working correctly so I can't use them and have been doing laundry away from home for over a month now. It stinks. Hopefully when I get back from Kenya I can buy a set and get back to normal life. Lol
So back to today...my migraine is almost gone. I have a couple things to buy for crafts and I need to shop for myself. At lunch I am gonna get my Hep A and Meningitis vaccines. I still need to get the specific cash needed for travel and I keep forgetting to take my typhoid pills. I'm not a good pill popper. Lol! I still need to clean my house and make sure everything is secure there with my babies.
So little time and so much to do. And I will NOT miss out on visiting with Maeryn when she comes home. So if I dont get everything done then so be it, right? Ugh. I wish I could convince myself that.
